- <p> You could call him the John Sununu of Poland. He's a
- college dropout and part-time taxi driver who followed LECH
- WALESA out of the Gdansk shipyards to become his personal
- bodyguard and chauffeur. Today MIECZYSLAW WACHOWSKI is sitting
- pretty in Warsaw's Belvedere Palace running the President's
- private office. He apparently sees himself at the center of
- Walesa's inner circle of advisers, but his colleagues regard him
- as boorish, arrogant and power hungry. Like Woody Allen's Zelig,
- he has elbowed his way into so many official photo ops that
- local photographers delight in cropping him out of their prints.
